CANADIAN LEE REACHES SEMIFINALS AT BRITISH OPEN

Canadian golfer Jaclyn Lee is two wins away from capturing the Ladies’ British Open Amateur Championsh­ip. The 21-year-old from Calgary posted two match-play victories Friday to advance to the semifinals. Lee, pictured, rolled to a 6-and-5 win over Sara Kouskova of the Czech Republic in the round of 16 before notching a 2-and-1 win over Karen Fredgaard of Denmark in the quarter-finals. Lee, who plays NCAA golf at Ohio State University, will face Leonie Harm of Germany Saturday in the semifinals. The other semifinal pits Hollie Muse of England against American Stephanie Lau. The final also goes Saturday. Marlene Stewart Streit was the last Canadian to win the Ladies’ British Open Amateur in 1953.
