Changing lives through research
The annual ‘Can You Do Lunch?’ event was a huge success for the CANFAR foundation
The Four Seasons ballroom was packed to the rafters for the annual “Can You Do Lunch?” event, , co-chaired by Eva Hartling and Alex Filiatrault, in support of CANFAR.
After perusing an extensive silent auction, friends and philanthropists enjoyed a glamorous luncheon sponsored by Birks. The main topic of conversation? Courage and Compassion in Leadership, a talk between Kirstine Stewart of Tribal Scale and Jeffrey Remedios of Universal Music Canada, moderated by CANFAR spokesperson Valerie Pringle.
Over the past three decades, through generous donations and fundraising, the CANFAR foundation has supported research that has changed the lives of those living with HIV. Breakthroughs
have included the development of preventative medications and the improvement of quality of life for new mothers living with HIV.
While it may not have been a proper house party, the launch of The Anndore House hotel certainly felt like it! Hundreds of scenesters roamed the boutique hotel with drinks-in-hand checking out the rooms, complete with actors performing creative vignettes to keep everyone entertained.
Meanwhile, downstairs at Constantine, La Palma’s Craig Harding and Alexandra Hutchison served up delicious Mediterranean inspired bites that did not disappoint. The 140-seat restaurant, which features an open concept kitchen, takes up much of the hotel’s first floor.
The hotel’s general manager, Anthony Campaniaris, says, “The Anndore House opening is the product of so many talented creatives joining together, and it’s wonderful to see our vision come to life. We designed the hotel to not only be an inclusive resource for locals, but for travellers from all over the world. Much like our hometown of Toronto, we look forward to being a diverse and dynamic option for all who walk in our doors.”
