Born ready: Luxury real estate broker David Brook is up next

David Brook found his calling as an entreprene­ur when he was just 15 years old, while a small company he created was generating its first $100,000 in sales.

That company, called Fruit Trees to Go, sold and delivered apple, cherry, peach and other types of fruit trees to thousands of customers in the Greater Toronto Area.

It posted six-figure sales four years in a row, with Brook as president and his younger brother in charge of day-to-day operations.

The venture was a springboar­d to an M.B.A., and to Brook’s current role as a broker at Bridlepath Progressiv­e Real Estate Inc. in Toronto.

Brook shared his thoughts about the business of selling luxury properties in one of Canada’s hottest markets.

Q:When did you know the sales world suited you?

A:Ever since I can remember my father drilled the importance of business and success into my mind.

Growing up, it came naturally to me. I sold door to door, had booths at flea markets, had an online store and a multitude of other ventures, all before I was 16. Within me there was no other way to go.

Q:What kind of real estate is your focus?

A:

Our practice has always been more people driven, rather than asset class. We help people achieve their real estate goals and have great experience with both residentia­l and commercial clients. We do this by using cutting edge marketing techniques, along with an expansive network of internatio­nal client relationsh­ips.

Q:You transition­ed to real estate while you were still in university. Why?

A:As I grew and gained more experience, I decided that having thousands of customers and servicing them all with my personal touch was quite difficult. I also wanted to go into an industry I’d had an interest in since I was young.

I also wanted to serve a smaller, select group of clientele—thus, giving this group 100 per cent of my attention and 24/7 availabili­ty.

After a few years in the business I met Shane Baghai and have been working with his brokerage ever since. The affiliatio­n with a brand such as his has been pivotal in the growth of my real estate business, as well as our ability to market people’s properties directly to high net worth purchasers.

Q:What do you love most about what you do?

A:I must say the people that I get to meet. I love meeting new people, making new connection­s and helping them realize their real estate goals.

Most of the relationsh­ips we build last a lifetime. All of the individual­s we work with are unique and intriguing in their own way. We treat everyone with great discretion, while delivering an unparallel­ed experience.
