When potential buyers came to view 169 Oakhurst Dr., they would tour the townhouse then sit down to watch the big screen television, says listing agent Ian Maged. “They didn’t want to leave.”

They were totally at home in the completely renovated space, so much so that some wanted to buy the house and its furnishings because the owner did such a great job creating the polished-yetinviting décor.

The current owners bought it four years ago and did a gut renovation, creating an open-concept kitchen/living/dining/family room. The kitchen has a 12-foot island and a walkout to the garden.

“The house is set at the front of the (20x120-foot) property so the backyard is deep,” says co-listing agent Sarah Maged. “It is fully fenced and has a garden and an interlocking brick patio.”

The master bedroom has a walk-in closet and a fourpiece, en-suite bathroom. The second bedroom has a semi-en-suite bathroom.

An open-concept recreation room, a bedroom and a bathroom are on the lower level.

The freehold townhouse is in an area of multi-milliondollar detached homes.

“It offers great value," says Ian Maged. "Also, it’s two storeys. Most townhouses are now stacked with three levels and many people don’t like all the stairs.”

The home was previously listed for $1.99 million in November and received two offers, but neither worked out (one because of financing and one that required a closing of less than three weeks, which was too soon for the sellers), so it was put back on the market. It sold in five days after the price was reduced to $1.059 million.

This part of Thornhill, north of Steeles, is experiencing a strong buyers’ market. It’s rare for anything to sell for over asking, he says.
