Blues snag all-star Faulk from Hurricanes

-

The St. Louis Blues acquired Justin Faulk from Carolina on Tuesday and promptly signed the defenceman to a seven- year, US$ 45.5- million contract.

The Blues also secured a fifth- round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft from the Hurricanes in exchange for defenceman Joel Edmundson, prospect Dominik Bokk and a seventh- round pick in the 2021 draft.

Faulk’s new deal carries an average annual value of $ 6.5 million. He recorded 11 goals, 24 assists and a plus-9 rating in 82 regular- season games in 2018-19.

A three- time all- star, Faulk, 27, has recorded 85 goals and 173 assists since being selected by the Hurricanes in the second round of the 2010 NHL Draft.

Case Keenum will remain the Washington Redskins’ starting quarterback despite an 0-3 record, coach Jay Gruden said.

After the Redskins’ 31-15 loss to Chicago on Monday night, Gruden was asked if he’s considering starting rookie first-round draft pick Dwayne Haskins.

“Not really,” Gruden said. “The most important thing is that we have some continuity. I can’t change people every five minutes.

“I think we can get better. Otherwise, if I didn’t think we had a chance to get better, then I would make a change.”

European football’s governing body said on Tuesday it would tell its member clubs and national teams not to play games in countries where women do not have full access to stadiums.

UEFA’S ruling executive committee agreed it would “recommend to its 55 national associations and all European clubs not to play matches in countries where women have restricted access to stadiums”.

UEFA did not specify which countries the action would impact.

Iran, however, has been the focus of attention since a female fan died earlier this month, after setting herself on fire to protest against her arrest for attending a match.

Two Schumachers will compete in Russian Grand Prix support races this weekend, with Michael’s son Mick racing in Formula Two and Ralf ’s son David taking the Formula Three seat of injured Australian Alex Peroni.

Mick, 20, is a Ferrari academy driver and competes for the Prema team in Formula Two, one rung below Formula One. His father won a record seven F1 championships.

Campos Racing indicated 17- year- old David, whose father won six races with Williams, could have a future with them beyond 2019.
