Trudeau’s hot mic gossip

-

Re: Just don’t needle the president, Matt Gurney, Dec. 5

Matt Gurney advises Justin Trudeau not to needle “the president.”

The one who suggested shooting migrants in the leg to slow them down? That president?

The one who said no human being would want to live in Baltimore? That president?

The one who imitated, in public, a former FBI employee having an orgasm? That president?

How wimpy Canadian of Gurney to suggest (almost) capin-hand/forelock tugging by a Canadian prime minister.

As far as needling is concerned, I would recommend to any Canadian prime minister encountering President Donald Trump (in the likely remaining five years) bring along a herd of porcupines. Fraser Petrick, Kingston, Ont.

Re: Trudeau gaffe a ‘ diplomatic disaster,’ Nov. 5

Now we have Justin Trudeau’s childish behaviour being caught on tape and Donald Trump extremely upset. With the new trade deal between the United States, Canada and Mexico still up in the air, making an enemy of Trump is a very stupid thing to do.

Like many Canadians I keep wondering when Trudeau will grow up and start acting like a prime minister on the world stage, rather than keeping embarrassing Canada. Larry Comeau, Ottawa

With the unending string of vile, repulsive language emanating from the bully pulpit of the president of the United States, isn’t it about time Donald Trump is called out by somebody?

The total capitulation of his own party in the U.S. to set him straight on his behaviour is exactly what any bully demands. Bullies crumble in the face of backlash and it is time he heard from more people why his behaviour is unacceptable.

As for the dawdling dowagers running the palace these days, when do you host world leaders and surround them with live mics and cameras when a few tasteful stills would have been sufficient?

Our prime minister was speaking with a group of world leaders, all of whom were entitled to express their opinions about a man who cares not one iota about what is good for their countries.

When you bend over backwards to appease this president all you do is make it easier for him to stab you in the back. The angst of the press and the negotiators of the new NAFTA are all a hyperbolic waste of time. In the end, Trump will do whatever he wants, when he wants, or just maybe, nothing at all. M. Arnaud, Bath, Ont.
