There’s no doubt about it: the setting is the best feature of this Stockwell Avenue home. Listing agent Sam Mcdadi says the 100x100foot mature treed property is nestled in Lorne Park Estate, an in-demand private neighbourhood. It’s also within steps of Lake Ontario and a private beach.

A handful of quaint narrow roads lead through the peaceful area, which has large lots. Lorne Park Estate has the lake to the south and is flanked by Jack Darling Memorial Park, with its popular splash pad, and Richards Memorial Park. Rattray Marsh Conservation is also nearby.

The neighbourhood also has easy access to the QEW, Port Credit and numerous walking and hiking trails for people who like to be close to the city but enjoy being surrounded by nature.

Built on the site of a former amusement park, Lorne Park Estate was developed in the late 1800s as a resort community. Visitors would arrive by steamer from Toronto. By the late 1930s, it became a private residential community. It has amenities, such as the beach, for use only by those who live there, Mcdadi says. There is also a tennis court and a playground.

Agents and potential buyers alike agreed that the expansive lot and cottage- like setting top the list of features. The stucco home, built in 1924, has four bedrooms, two bathrooms and 2,723 square feet of living space. The new owners will likely enjoy it as is, Mcdadi says.

A stone floor- to- ceiling fireplace graces the open- concept living room. The solarium has French doors and large windows. The sitting room has a walkout to a balcony.

The main floor also includes a kitchen with honey- coloured cabinetry, as well as a master suite with a walk-in closet and a threepiece ensuite bathroom. Each of the other bedrooms has a vaulted ceiling, and one has a walkout to a balcony.

The finished lower level includes a recreation room with a woodstove and a walkout to a patio.

There is a detached twocar garage and parking for two cars on the private driveway.

Homes do come up for sale in Lorne Park, but McDadi says they are rarely available in Lorne Park Estate — where, he adds, residents can enjoy a Muskoka-in-the-city lifestyle.
