DELAYS IN DND SUPPLY CHAIN, RIGHTS ISSUES AT CROWN CORP.
The Office of the Auditor General tabled reports in Parliament on Wednesday on Canadian government departments, agencies and Crown corporations. Here are some of the key take-aways. The Department of National Defence’s supply chain appears to be problematic with requests for spare parts, uniforms and rations all facing delays because items were out of stock. Items were delivered weeks, or months, after they were needed and also at greater cost. The Canadian Commercial Corporation, which helps exporters get products to international markets, was criticized for not considering human rights enough when working on deals. That appears to contradict the Crown corporation’s repeated assertions that human rights figure prominently in its operations.
