ALLEGED RIDEAU HALL INTRUDER OUTLINED GRIEVANCES IN LETTER

- Tyler Dawson, National Post

The man who allegedly crashed his truck through the gates of rideau hall wrote a two-page letter claiming Canada was becoming a communist dictatorship, according to a Global News report. Corey Barclay hurren, 46, a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, was arrested last Thursday and charged with 21 firearm offences related to the four loaded weapons he’s alleged to have had. Another charge had to do with alleged threats against Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Trudeau and his family live on the grounds of rideau hall, the home

of the Governor General. In the letter, Global News reported, hurren apologized and said that the pandemic was causing a loss of government accountability and that he had lost work, fearing his truck would be seized and he would lose his position with the Canadian rangers. Global News also reported hurren said Canada needed a wake-up call and that he was upset he was unable to visit the Canadian War Museum when he visited Ottawa for Canada day. National Post was unable to verify Global News’ reporting.
