Why are Ottawa police apologizing over a 911 call?

-

They call it “an unfortunate incident” — the issue, captured on video, shows a white woman talking to 911 as she passes a lone Black man on a bridge. A man who tweeted the video said the woman called police on his brother because he wasn’t two metres away from her while crossing the bridge. The woman put the call on speaker and the 911 operator is heard telling the man he is intimidating the woman. Ottawa police say it was not an appropriate use of the 911 system, and are promising the man “a full and unreserved apology.”
