$160,000
The 620 players who qualified for Wimbledon will be paid despite the tournament’s cancellation. The club will distribute — out of a reported US$140 million insurance payment — a prize pool of US$12.6 million as a reward for the work they invested to qualify. An international Tennis Federation 2013 study found that of 13,736 professional players, only 310 made a profit that year. The study found it cost US$160,000 per year, on average, to be a pro, thanks to airfare, hotel, equipment and coaching costs.
