Re: Defenders Of Open Debate Get Their Wish, July 9.

Thanks to the signatories of the letter stating the need for open debate without fear of attack and defamation. It is frightening how politicians, business owners and the media react to social media outrage when one dares to offer an idea that doesn’t fit the current narrative.

This will only serve to create more divisions and the root causes of real socioeconomic issues will not be investigated or addressed. This is an important story and I hope the media pays close attention, although I am not confident under the current tsunami. John Bell, Port Elgin, Ont.
