I was a street cop for 35 years, three of them with the RCMP and 32 with the Ottawa police. I have to state that I have never been so outraged at a politician than I am with NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh. his assumption that the rideau hall intruder would have met a different fate had he been a person of colour was insulting to me and the women and men I worked with.

he is insinuating that the police who witnessed a man crashing his vehicle through the gates of rideau hall automatically decided that if he was non-white, they would decide his fate differently than if he was white. The man is the leader of a once-respected political party that almost formed the government under the late Jack Layton. Singh should apologize to law enforcement for such crass comments. he is an embarrassment to the country. Stephen Flanagan, Ottawa.
