THE SIMPSONS CASTS BLACK ACTOR

-

Alex Désert will replace Hank Azaria as the voice of Homer Simpson’s colleague Carlton Carlson on Sunday’s season 32 première of The Simpsons. Earlier this summer, producers confirmed that the animated show would no longer have white actors voice non- white characters. It’s unclear whether Désert, shown, will be the permanent voice of Carl, or whether he’ll voice other characters as well. Azaria had voiced Carl since the beginning of the show, apart from his first appearance. The producers’ decision could also affect non- white characters such as Dr. Julius Hibbert, who is seen in the episode, but doesn’t speak. Désert’s other voice- acting credits include roles on Spider- Man: Maximum Venom, Mr. Pickles and Momma Named Me Sheriff.
