Flyers’ Stewart retires after 11 seasons

Forward Chris Stewart retired from the NHL after 11 seasons with seven teams. The 32- year- old appeared in 16 games with Philadelphia in 2019-20, but was not on the Flyers’ playoff roster.

A first- round pick by Colorado in 2006, Stewart tallied 322 points (160 goals, 162 assists) and 750 penalty minutes in 668 games with the Avalanche, St. Louis Blues, Buffalo Sabres, Minnesota Wild, Anaheim Ducks, Calgary Flames and Flyers.

“I plan to elaborate and fully explain when I find all the words I have to say because my journey and experiences deserve it,” he wrote Sunday on social media.

Stewart set career highs in goals ( 28), assists ( 36) and points ( 64) with the Avalanche in 2009-10.
