Rookie MP taking eight weeks off for health Problems

-

Nunavut’s lone MP says she’s taking eight weeks away from work “to heal,” on advice from her doctor. Mumilaaq Qaqqaq, 27, says she’s been dealing with unspecified health problems in the year since she was elected to represent the northern territory. A New democrat elected for the first time last October, Qaqqaq has been an outspoken critic of the Liberal government’s treatment of the North in general and Inuit in particular. during the pandemic, she’s undertaken a tour of northern housing conditions, pointing out overcrowding, substandard materials and the deterioration of many units into “mould boxes.” “It has been my duty and privilege to bring these stories to Ottawa and to fight for change. but recently I have been struggling with some personal health problems,” she wrote on Twitter Friday.
