WENTZ WANTS OUT OF PHILADELPHIA
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz will seek a trade this off-season because of irreconcilable differences with coach Doug Pederson, ESPN reported Sunday. Pederson benched Wentz in favour of rookie Jalen Hurts after a loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 13 — a fourth straight defeat that dropped the Eagles to 3-8-1 at that point. Wentz has struggled this season. The Eagles have been eliminated from the playoffs. Heading into Sunday night’s finale, he’s competed just 57.4 per cent of his pass attempts (251 of 437) for 2,620 yards and 16 touchdowns. He has thrown 15 interceptions and is averaging a career-low 218.3 yards per game. Wentz has been sacked 50 times for 326 yards — both of which lead the league. Hurts, a more mobile quarterback, has been sacked 12 times for 54 yards in three starts.
