Being different

Re: Cancel culture’s latest victim, Jonathan Kay, and Small acts of discrimination, Lloyd Wilks, Dec. 30

Interestingly enough these two columns were situated on pages adjacent to each other.

It is ironic how both the talented Michelle Latimer and the brilliant Lloyd Wilks faced discrimination for the very opposite reasons.

Her small percentage of Indigenous heritage did not entitle her to be considered part of a marginalized group and so she experienced “cancel culture,” while Wilks was subjected to being harassed by a bank manager and a teller because the true buried issue was do with his skin colour.

Unfortunately these two very valuable contributors to our society are victims of a society that finds fault with everyone — you are too different or you are not different enough.
