Proud Boys leader held over banner incident

-

The leader of the far- Right Proud Boys has been arrested in Washington, D.C., for allegedly burning a Black Lives Matter banner as the U. S. capital braces for fresh unrest Wednesday.

Henry “Enrique” Tarrio, 36, was arrested by police shortly after he arrived in Washington ahead of protests planned by Donald Trump supporters to coincide with the congressional vote expected today to affirm Joe Biden’s election win.

Tarrio, pictured, was taken into custody on Monday after a warrant was issued for his arrest on suspicion of burning a Black Lives Matter banner that was torn down from a historic black church in Washington last month, police said. He pleaded not guilty to burning the flag and possessing two high-capacity gun magazines. Tarrio was ordered to stay out of Washington until his next court appearance in June.
