COUPLE SUE OVER $160,000 CAR THEY’RE TOO SCARED TO DRIVE

-

A Vancouver couple say they are afraid to drive their luxury vehicle after the dealer refused to repair an alleged steering defect, and are suing. The $160,000 Mercedes-benz has been parked for almost three years. “They insisted I can drive the car, but I’m afraid to,” said owner Datong Fang through an interpreter. “I drive on the highway all the time and it could be life-threatening.” Yang’s wife Guifang Huo bought the 2017 S550 new in 2017 and they drove it for about 6,500 kilometres. Less than a year later, the steering wheel seized up while they were driving, but the Mercedes-benz dealer said it could find nothing wrong. It happened a second time and the dealer refused again to fix it. The car isn’t on a recall list in Canada, but S-class 2015-19 models have been recalled in the U.S. for steering problems, according to cars.com.
