Dief’s words of wisdom
Re: Dark day in D.C., Matt Gurney, Jan. 7
After reading of all the lawlessness and mayhem of the past week in the United States, I am reminded of a speech by John Diefenbaker that I attended at Toronto’s Varsity Arena in the 1960s.
Though he was a great orator and spoke at length, the words I have remembered most clearly were strong and deep: “Freedom is your right to be wrong — not the right to do wrong.” Perhaps this new generation can still learn from those who have gone before.
