Forty-three centimetres of snow fell on Vancouver, setting a 24hour snowfall record for the city. Gale-force winds swept through the city and temperatures as low as -16 C caused fuel shortages and froze water supplies. No injuries were reported, but the roof of the Hastings Park Forum, the city’s main hockey rink, collapsed. The storm was followed by a quick thaw and a lot of rain.
