Re: Biden’s first act, Jan. 21; and Why we’re not doing better on COVID vaccines, Paul Lucas, Jan. 14
Like resentful, incredulous teenagers, we seem to be blaming everyone else for our woes, when we only have ourselves to blame.
The Keystone XL pipeline? We’re complaining about Joe Biden’s ban and America’s unco-operative stance. We should’ve/ could’ve taken care of it ourselves by building a pipeline (any one of three directions) to tidewater, where we could ship our most valuable export to countries around the world, including America, at world prices, not the cross-border discount.
Lack of COVID-19 vaccine? We’d very likely have our own manufacturing facilities for a COVID vaccine if we didn’t implement the PMPRB, which apparently dissuaded pharmaceutical companies, such as Pfizer, from investing here. yeah, we’d be paying more for our everyday medicines, but we would’ve had our own supply of COVID vaccine.
Bad decisions have consequences. We’re seeing the results of bad policies, implemented by weak, shortsighted politicians and governments, elected by us. Bernie Dobrucki, Burlington, Ont.
