Couple who jumped vaccine queue get no early 2nd dose
A wealthy couple flew to a remote Indigenous northern community on the yukon/alaska border to get vaccinated ahead of their age-eligibility group, but their actions come back to bite. Last week, Great Canadian Gaming Corporation CEO rod Baker and his wife, Ekaterina, flew nearly 2,000 km from Vancouver to Beaver Creek and allegedly posed as visiting workers of a local hotel to get COVID jabs at a mobile clinic. They then headed back to the airport, but were nabbed for not isolating upon arrival. Not only were they charged with breaking yukon’s Civil Emergency Measures Act for deliberately putting vulnerable populations at risk, they won’t get their second dose of the Moderna vaccine in the recommended 42 days but must wait until their age groups gets theirs in August and September. And, Baker has lost his lucrative job and seat on the board of the gambling company. however, Moderna says its vaccine has 80 per cent efficacy with just one dose, and Baker pockets $28 million worth of the company’s stock on his way out.
