Lexus making just 10 Inspiration Series LC500S
Lexus’ 2021 Inspiration Series LC500 arrived mid-january as a low-production grand tourer.
This year’s iteration of the series was inspired by aircraft. Planes have to be as light as possible to stay in the air, and that ethos is what Lexus brought to the LC500.
This is a special-edition Lexus, which means you don’t get any more power, but you do get a unique colour: black. Or as Lexus likes to call it, Obsidian. The wheels are also black, and 21 inches in diameter, and you’ll also find the colour on the lightweight carbon fibre-reinforced plastic roof panel, and the carbon-fibre spoiler.
The interior of the vehicle is similarly scant, with lightweight Alcantara covering the seats and steering wheel, as well as a large, colour head-up display.
Lexus has also decreased the unsprung weight of the LC500 with aluminum lower suspension arms, lighter suspension stabilizers with a hollow design and revised diameter, and new highstrength coil-spring material.
Only 10 Inspiration Series vehicles will be produced — yes, 10. That makes the Inspiration Series rarer than an LFA, or even the LC500 Convertible. The most incredible thing about the vehicle is that Lexus made it at all, because a production run that small seems totally out of place for the Japanese manufacturer.
The price for all this air-inspired excellence? It must be sky high, because Lexus has chosen to leave that information cloudy.
