Artist Lawren Harris died in Vancouver. He was a founding member of the Group of Seven and first president of the Canadian Group of Painters. His landscapes of Lake Superior, the Rocky Mountains, and the Arctic are at once stark and beautiful, and among the best-loved pieces of Canadian art. Harris is buried on the Mcmichael Canadian Art Collection grounds in Kleinburg, Ont.
