89 TRAVELLERS ARRESTED IN THAI BAR RAID

Thai police arrested 109 people this week after raiding an illegal bar party on the popular backpacking island of Koh Phangnan — known for raucous full-moon parties, which have not been permitted since the beginning of the pandemic. Eighty-nine of the arrested were visitors from 10 countries, according to the Associated Press. The partygoers received suspended one-month jail terms, which will not apply if they exhibit good behaviour for one year, and us$130 fines. All arrested tested negative afterwards. The bar had promoted its five-year birthday party on its social media channels, which is how police learned of it, the Bangkok Post said.
