About energy’s contribution ...
Re: It’s embarrassing, Kevin Carmichael, Jan. 30
Kevin Carmichael misrepresents Canada’s energy industries’ contribution to the economy. In 2019, they accounted for 10 per cent of GDP, directly employed more than 282,000 people, supported over 550,000 jobs, and paid $17.8 billion in taxes and royalties to governments. energy exports totalled $134 billion, 23 per cent of total Canadian goods exports. Investment in oil and gas was $33.3 billion, followed by electric power generation and transmission at $22.1 billion.
