WOMAN SHOOTS AT ALLEGED SHOPLIFTER, HITS STORE EMPLOYEE

-

She was out walking her dog Saturday and saw two people run out of a hardware store. She put two and two together and figured one was a shoplifter — carrying white buckets — and the other an Ace hardware employee. So the woman fired at the fleeing suspect. And indeed, police later said, one of the individuals was the shoplifting suspect and the other was an Ace employee, running after the suspect. Police say the dog walker, Nya reyes, 45, pictured, fired as the suspect’s vehicle began to drive off, and the Ace employee was nearby. Turns out reyes wasn’t an accurate shot. The employee took a bullet to the knee and was taken to hospital. reyes is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm in city limits. The alleged shoplifter got away.
