COYOTES CUT ASSISTANT GM

-

The Arizona Coyotes terminated the contract of assistant general manager and executive vice-president of hockey operations Steve Sullivan, the team announced Thursday.

No reason was provided, and the Coyotes said they won’t fill the assistant GM vacancy this season.

Sullivan, 46, had worked with the Coyotes in several capacities since 2014. He joined the club as a development coach and was promoted two years later to director of player development before being tabbed as assistant general manager of the Coyotes in 2017. He also was GM of the Tucson Roadrunners, the team’s AHL affiliate.

Sullivan was named as the interim general manager of the Coyotes after John Chayka’s resignation in July. Bill Armstrong was named the team’s 10th general manager in franchise history two months later.

Sullivan had a 16-season NHL career as a player with the New Jersey Devils, Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks, Nashville Predators, Pittsburgh Penguins and then-phoenix Coyotes.
