Don’t take flag to Beijing

Re: Feds won’t boycott Olympics, decision up to Olympic committee, Feb. 4; and Beijing boycott not the answer, COC says, Feb. 5

If the Canadian Olympic Committee believes that attending the Beijing Olympics is the right thing to do, then Justin Trudeau’s government should prohibit the COC from using the Canadian flag at those Olympics. That, too, would be the right thing to do. China’s use of hostage diplomacy, its attacks on freedom in Hong Kong and Taiwan, its enforced imprisonment and abuse of the Uyghurs and the destabilizing global threat of its belt and Road Initiative should not be ignored for any reason.
