The great writer George Will said it best: Interviewed for Ken Burns’ baseball in the early ’90s, he opined that football combined the two worst aspects of American society: violence and committee meetings. Wonderful.

There are many more horrible dimensions to present-day America, but the stultifying miasma of the NFL ranks below green ham and rope burn to this observer.
