February 17, 1938 – Acclaimed stage actor Martha Henry was born at Detroit, Michigan. Since her auspicious debut at Stratford as Miranda in The Tempest in 1962, Henry has played most of Shakespear­e’s major female roles, while her important nonshakesp­earean roles at Stratford have included Sister Jeanne in John Whiting’s The Devils, Mrs. Proctor in Arthur Miller’s The Crucible and Olga in Anton Chekhov’s The Three Sisters.
