QUEBEC-BASED RENEWABLE TAKES HIT IN TEXAS FREEZE
While millions of Texans are still in the dark, some natural gas and power providers are poised to make billions of dollars from skyrocketing prices and others may incur big losses because of disruptions caused by the deep freeze that blanketed the state. Among the latter was a Canadian provider of wind and solar power in the Lone Star State that estimates it may lose as much as $60 million because of the weather. Longueuil, Que.-based Innergex renewable energy Inc. estimates the potential financial impact of the weather events at $45 million to $60 million on a consolidated basis, it said Wednesday. Its shares slipped 1.25 per cent to close at $26.81 in Toronto. “Force majeure and other mitigating possibilities are being evaluated,” the company said, adding all our employees “are safe and sound.”
