It’s one of those lots that is irreplaceable. Large lots like this 81x140-foot pie-shaped property that widens to 200 feet at the back are not being developed any more, says listing agent Jerry Hammond. Its location just north of Steeles, and off of coveted

Old english Lane, adds to the property’s lure. bayview Glen is a neighbourhood of lots at least a half-acre in size.

There are two cul-de-sacs off of Old english Lane, with only two homes on each, he says. “Old english Lane has a certain cache. It meanders, with curvature throughout the entire street giving it character.”

Six Hampshire Crt. has mature trees, a balcony overlooking the backyard and a location close to bayview Glen Public School, one of the top-rated schools in Ontario.

It’s also close to the bayview Golf and Country Club, which offers golf, tennis and curling.

The 40-year-old home has undergone extensive renovations. He says only the skeleton of the original home remains.

Completed just more than four years ago, the gut renovation was done by the second owner, a builder who Hammond says included “higher end than typical finishings,” since the home is for his personal use.

There is a fully equipped gourmet kitchen/dining room and a living room with a fireplace. The second level has a family room, a main bedroom suite with a fourpiece ensuite bathroom and three family bedrooms. The lower level has a recreation room for more fun indoor space.

One of the most outstanding features is a 20x40-foot indoor pool, popular in the era in which the home was built. Sliding doors around the perimeter open the pool to the outdoors in warm weather. It can be used yearround, an especially nice feature for a family.

The owner had wanted to tear the home down and build a more user-friendly bungalow. Hammond says, “He’s 81 years old, and his wife won the argument.” They’re moving to a penthouse, with renovations underway.

There was a lot of interest in the home, and the fourth offer was the charm. It sold for 92 per cent of the asking price.
