There were “tons of calls from 416ers looking to get out of the city during COVID,” says listing agent Voula Argyropoulos. Potential buyers were drawn by the size of the property (15 acres), the half-acre pond and 3,540-square-foot house.

“The ultimate privacy and vista views from every angle are truly the best features of the property, which has trails throughout for hiking, snowshoeing, skiing and tobogganing. The pond is used for fishing, canoeing and swimming. It also freezes over in the winter for skating. It’s truly a four-season property.”

The home was built about 30 years ago and has an abundance of natural light from large windows and multiple skylights.

She says, “The exceptionally well-maintained home is equipped with a large office, large formal living room and an updated kitchen/family room with 14-foot ceiling heights. It’s the heart of the home.”

The lower level, which offers an additional 1,551 square feet, has a recreation room and sitting area.

The homeowners have updated the home, doing everything from replacing broadloom to painting, adding wainscotting throughout, installing new appliances and renovating the kitchen, she says. “A big ticket update was the geothermal heating system, installed shortly after they purchased.”

A selling feature on top of all the highlights was that the seller recently installed fibre optic high-speed internet, which is it is not always possible in these types of rural properties. With more and more people working from home this became one of the many highlights.”

Years ago, there was a small cottage on the property and the owner at the time had a maple syrup business. They ran maple lines and hung stainless steel buckets throughout the maple trees. Two sugar shacks were set in the depths of the treed portion of the lot, she says.

“Interest peaked in the fall as buyers continued looking to escape the city and find a property with acreage but also being close to amenities. With Highway 404 less than a 10-minute drive away, and with shops, restaurants, great schools and golf nearby, the home is perfectly located.”
