Glenn Close has revealed the story behind her viral twerking incident at the 2021 Oscars. The actress, 74, took part in a movie song quiz, surprising the room by naming the 1988 funk track Da Butt, from Spike Lee’s School Daze, and then twerking to the music. “I knew that Lil Rel was going to quiz me about Da Butt and all three guys helped me run through what I was to say,” she wrote on Instagram, referring to her table mates screenwriter Chris Terrio, actor Daniel Kaluuya and his friend Darrell Britt-gibson. Close said her actual dancing was unplanned, though. Meanwhile the frontman of E.U., which recorded Da Butt, was floored by the shout-out. “My phone has not stopped ringing, it’s amazing,” Gregory (Sugar Bear) Elliot told Billboard.
