Masterfully designed and recently renovated, this stoneand-stucco home has just the kind of living space the buyer wanted, says listing agent Irina Garanina.

The 5,500-square-foot residence has a unique, intimate interior with traditional features such as a six-burner stove with a brick surround that makes it look like a pizza oven, she says.

The house was built about 35 years ago and was recently renovated. The living room, with a fireplace and bay window, and dining room with wainscotting and a view of the pool, are reminiscent of a french chateau. Walkouts from the kitchen and main-floor family room lead to the patio and landscaped backyard.

The buyer viewed the property when there was a dusting of snow outside and there wasn’t much to see outside, Garanina says, but he came back when the garden was in bloom and was sold. “He fell in love with the house and yard.”

The stone-and-stucco residence is on a 103x300-foot property with mature trees, a pool with a cabana, flagstone patios and manicured lawns.

The main floor also has a sunroom with french doors and a view of the pool. Other highlights include a primary suite with a six-piece ensuite bathroom that includes a soaker tub with a view of the backyard, and a walkout to a balcony. Each of the family bedrooms has a double closet.

The lower level has a nanny’s room, a theatre, a sauna, a meditation area and a recreation room with a wet bar and a walk up to the backyard.

Potential buyers were mostly families with kids and were drawn by the size of the lot.

The property, Garanina says, “offers options. It’s like they have their own park with a pool. They don’t have to go anywhere.”

The cabana has a fireplace that’s ideal for gathering around when it’s cooler and a wet bar so it’s not necessary to walk back to the house for a drink.

Thornridge is a quiet street in a popular pocket. Garanina says, “It feels like living at the cottage, but Yonge Street amenities, such as restaurants and a farmers’ market are nearby. Highways 7 and 407 are also close by.”
