BOURDAIN FILM SETS RECORD
The documentary Roadrunner: A film about Anthony Bourdain has set a record. It earned US$1.9 million at the box office, making it the biggest opening weekend for a film in that category during the pandemic. The movie about the late chef and traveller, shown, also made headlines last week when director Morgan Neville revealed he’d used artificial intelligence to recreate Bourdain’s voice. “There were a few sentences that Tony wrote that he never spoke aloud,” a spokesperson for Focus Features told EW. “With the blessing of his estate and literary agent we used A.I. technology. It was a modern storytelling technique that I used in a few places where I thought it was important to make Tony’s words come alive.”
