COUTURIER INKS FLYERS EXTENSION
The Philadelphia Flyers signed veteran centre Sean Couturier to an eight-year, US$62 million extension on Thursday. The contract carries an average annual value of $7.75 million and goes into effect with the 2022-23 season and runs through the 2029-30 campaign.
Couturier recorded 41 points (18 goals, 23 assists) in 45 games in his 10th season with the Flyers, who drafted him with the No. 8 overall pick in 2011. The 2019-20 Selke Trophy winner won the Bobby Clarke Trophy as team MVP for the third consecutive season in 2020-21.
The 28-year-old has 443 points (174 goals, 269 assists) with 263 penalty minutes and a plus-88 plus/minus rating in 692 career games.
