“Townhouses have come into demand during COVID times as they offer a similar maintenance-free lifestyle of (highrise) condo living without having to face crowds and elevators and condo rule restrictions,” says listing agent Christian Vermast.

That resulted in quite a bit of activity and interest in 1011 Dundas St. E., a two-bedroom, two-bathroom townhouse in South Riverdale. “This space appealed to couples and single people who were initially looking at moving into a condo. It also appealed to buyers who wanted a pied-a-terre in Toronto while owning a larger home in the country.”

It isn’t easy to find townhouses in Riverdale that are not part of a larger complex, he says. “Given the space and the garage this townhome offers, it’s a very good opportunity.”

It was built in 2004 and has been kept in immaculate condition by its owner, a single man, says Vermast. “Over the years he has updated the kitchen backsplash, broadloom and various esthetics.”

The main floor has a generous foyer and a powder room as well as direct access to the garage. Vermast says the second floor consists of an open-concept living/ dining/kitchen with 10-foot ceiling. The space is painted white. “It is a very bright, happy and airy space. Because the principal rooms are on the second floor, the views mainly consist of tree tops.”

A walkout from the living room leads to a 120-squarefoot terrace. The upper level has two bedrooms and a four-piece bathroom with a separate shower.

The 13x63-foot property is close to the food markets of Chinatown East and shops, restaurants and cafes of Riverside/leslieville. There are two streetcars to downtown and bike lanes, as well as trails and parks nearby.
