THREE IN HOSPITAL AFTER SHOOTING AT HIGH SCHOOL
A fight at a Texas high school ended in gunfire on Wednesday morning, sending three people to a hospital and spurring a search for the suspect who fled the scene, police said.
At least two of the four injured people, one of whom did not require hospitalization, suffered gunshot wounds, police said. Three were students at Timberview High School in Arlington, Texas, they said.
“I just want to emphasize that this is not a random act of violence,” Arlington Assistant Police Chief Kevin Kolbye told reporters. “What we believe happened, preliminarily, is that there was a fight between a student and another individual in a class and a gun was used, and there are four victims.”
Police quickly identified the 18-year-old suspect who left the school’s sprawling campus by car. The incident prompted a lockdown and a massive police response to secure the building.
