Carillonneur Percival Price was born at Toronto. The first non-european graduate of the renowned Beiaardschool for carillonneurs in Belgium, Price helped design the Peace Tower’s carillon in Ottawa. The carillon, a musical instrument consisting of bells played by a keyboard, was installed on Parliament Hill in 1927. Price was the tower’s first carillonneur. A composer and arranger, Price wrote a number of works and played the carillon around the world.
