NEW SHOW ACCUSED OF EXPLOITING PAMELA ANDERSON ALL OVER AGAIN

-

The upcoming release of Pam & Tommy — a television series based on the life of actress Pamela Anderson and her ex-husband Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee — has been “very painful” for Anderson.

The show centres around the couple’s relationship, including the scandal surrounding a leaked sex tape of the pair and the scrutiny they faced from the tabloids.

While Anderson has not made a public statement about it, a source revealed she had “no involvement whatsoever” in making the show. Another source said it was “shocking” that the series was made without Anderson’s approval, and that the upcoming release of the show “has been very painful for Pamela Anderson and for anyone that loves her.”

Fans on social media pointed out how triggering it must be for Anderson to relive traumatic memories from her past, pointing out that her marriage to Lee was abusive and that her sex tape was released without consent.

“This show coming out without her approval is the sex tape all over again. People are profiting off the exploitation of her once again,” one Twitter user said.

Many said they would be boycotting the show.

Lily James, the actress who plays Anderson in the Hulu series, said in an interview that Anderson did not respond to her request to meet about the role.

“I was really hopeful that she would be involved. I wish it had been different,” James told Porter. “My sole intention was to take care of the story and to play Pamela authentically,” adding that she was "very hopeful that (we would be in touch right up until we started filming.”

Conversely, Lee approved of actor Sebastian Stan playing him in Pam & Tommy.

“I know Sebastian, he’s playing me. From what he’s told me, really beautiful story,” he told ET. “I think a lot of people would think it’s one thing, but it’s really about privacy and how things got crazy then. There’s different laws now.”

The marriage between Lee and Anderson ended in 1998. Lee spent six months in jail after facing a felony charge of spousal battery of his then wife, Anderson.
