-

The father of a young man who died in a workplace incident in Montreal on Christmas Day is among the victims of a fatal plane crash in Haiti. Gamaniel Valcin, pictured with his wife, was one of at least five people who died when a small plane crashed Wednesday in the Haitian capital of Port-au-prince. Paule Robitaille, a member of the Quebec Liberal party, noted the connection on Twitter. Gamaniel Valcin’s son, Riley Valcin, 22, died while doing snow removal work at the Old Port ferris wheel on Christmas Day. Gamaniel Valcin’s plane was headed to the city of Jacmel when it tried to land in the community of Carrefour and hit a truck transporting soda. Pierre Belamy Samedi, a local police commissioner, said five people were aboard the plane identified as a Cessna 207.
