Thanks for the ‘butt-kicking’
Re: ‘No Free Rides For Anyone,’ Anthony Sowan, Jan. 28. A much-needed, butt-kicking article directed at not only aboriginals but many Canadians who blame others for their lot in life. Anthony Sowan wrote what many have wanted (and needed) to say, but did not, because it was never “politically correct.” Thank you for finally getting it out there. Mr. Sowan is a man to be admired.
Gail Mackenzie, Ottawa. It is indeed rare to see such a veritably logical, intelligent, clearly argued, passionate and persuasive assessment of the native situation in Canada. The personal appreciation of past and current issues shown by Anthony Sowan is a compelling and ethical road map for all living in this country. Kudos, kudos, kudos!
F.H. Rolf Seringhaus, Kitchener, Ont. What a breath of fresh air to read this column. I particularly like these two sentences: “No quarter for those who would inhibit the lives and the success of others. No limit to what anyone can accomplish with a steely resolve and a great idea.”
Kendall Carey, Toronto.
Anthony Sowan for prime minister!
Rick Walker, Toronto. Anthony Sowan should be appointed minister of Indian Affairs.
Paul Ratzlaff, Milton, Ont.
Anthony Sowan for AFN chief!
