Just in case you were pining for another Movie 43

- BY CHRIS KNIGHT Inappropriate Comedy opens March 22.

The latest movie not to be screened for critics needs a little explanation. And possibly a lot of apologizing. The oddly named InAPPropriate Comedy looks like it might dethrone Movie 43 as the lamest and most offensive comedy of all time. This just eight weeks after Movie 43 hit theatres; not even enough time to revel in its horrendousness.

First, that title. Apparently, it refers to the apps on a tablet computer — in this case, offensive and allegedly funny apps. The trailer features a selection of racist and sexist jokes, most of them also featuring frequent references to genitalia, frequent double entendres and, not infrequently enough, double entendres that reference genitalia.

The movie is the work of Vince Offer, familiar to late-night TV viewers as the infomercial pitchman for the ShamWow and the Slap Chop. Offer’s last film, late in the 20th century, was The Underground Comedy Movie, memorable for being neither underground nor a comedy. (It was, technically, a movie.)

That one was described by The New York Times as “a monument to ineptitude and self-delusion,” while a review in The Village Voice offered up this sample of wit: In a parody skit called Flirty Harry, Offeras-Eastwood points his gun and growls, “Go ahead. Make me gay.”

Amazingly, the same scene appears (or APPears) in the new movie, with Adrien Brody as the Eastwood figure. Michelle Rodriguez and Rob Schneider are also in the cast. Perhaps they felt bad about missing the boat on Movie 43. Although if you missed the Titanic would you really be upset, and try to book passage on the Lusitania?
