Unequal outcomes
Re: The gender scandal — in Scandinavia and Canada, Jordan Peterson, Dec. 15
Dr. Peterson’s article raises serious concerns regarding the new trend of forcing gender neutrality on our children. His information regarding Justin Trudeau is immediately alarming. The lack of competence in his government is played out daily. Pipelines, free trade, China, Iran — the list goes on. Poor policy by unqualified politicians is costing us billions.
Too bad Canadian taxpayers seem to be oblivious of the fiscal storm brewing.
Hello France. Beware Canada. Yes, it can happen here! Danny Passmore, Toronto
Jordan Peterson shows, with detailed statistical data, that both opportunities and outcomes have remained unequal. Everyone should have an opportunity to achieve a better life. But once policy is in place to outlaw systemic discrimination between men and women, or against racial, ethnic, religious or other groups, how people then are able and motivated to use opportunities will vary, resulting in unequal outcomes.
Medical schools no longer discriminate in admissions and women now almost outnumber men. Other STEM courses (science, technology, engineering, medicine) also don’t discriminate, but fewer women select a career in those fields. Nursing schools too don’t discriminate but fewer men chose nursing as a career. Government policies that try to eliminate how culture and biology influence us do not work; instead they often create their own form of perverse discrimination.
