Women earned 87 cents for every dollar men earned in 2018, up from 81 cents on the dollar in 1998, a new Statistics Canada report says. That means women earn $4.13 less than men on an hourly basis. Women are still under-represented in high-paying industries such as mining and applied sciences, and 16 per cent of women work part time versus 4.8 per cent of men.
