And now for Final Jeopardy.
Category : T.V. personalities
Clue: This Canadian legend brought knowledge, elegance, grace, warmth, excitement, and joy into millions of households for a period of over 26 years as a syndicated game-show host.
Final Jeopardy question: Who was the peerless Alex Trebek?
Michael Rubin, Montreal
Most articles or tributes to Alex Trebek that I have read have used the term “beloved host.” I believe he was that, due to one main reason — he was just a plain nice guy, and that came out during all of the time he hosted Jeopardy!.
Maybe it was due to his Canadianism, that he extolled such an aura of being a fine gentleman with a dry sense of humour.
It was obvious to everyone that he was just being himself. Not putting on an act. Not full of himself, but just being Alex, and that endeared him to so many people. People both here in Canada and in his adopted homeland of the United States will miss him.
With apologies to William Shakespeare, may “flights of angels sing thee to your rest Alex.”
And the Bible says it even more eloquently: “Well done, good and faithful servant!”
